This is a maceration of comfrey leaves at 20% in cold pressed organic sunflower oil. It's nickname is 'knit bone' which gives you a clue that it is great for breaks and fractures. It's very commonly used to help relieve knee and arthritic pain and stiffness, is extremely healing for wounds like bed sores and leg ulcers and will help any form of injury like strains, sprains, bruising, tendon and ligament issues.
It works because comfrey is very high in allantoin, which is known to help speed up the repair of damaged tissues. It's also great for preventing scarring, so double whammy. In fact, the word 'comfrey' is derived from the Latin word 'confirmare', which means to unite. It pulls stuff together basically.
How to Use:
Important: Use externally only, never ingest it and not on broken skin as you would absorb some of it. Not recommended while pregnant or breastfeeding. Not for children.
Rub the oil into the affected stiff, painful area and massage well. If using it for a break or fracture, make sure you are very gentle - don't massage and upset your bone healing, just gently on the surface and let it sink in. You could add a few drops of an essential oil blend - see the number of drops etc here.
I used it recently to help heal my broken foot. I made a combination of St John's wort oil, arnica oil and comfrey oil to encourage bone, ligament and nerve healing. Really helped, which is what gave me the idea to list all three oils here and offer to make a mix for you if needed.
Sunflower has been used here as the macerating oil because it has the highest concentration of natural Vitamin E of any of the plants oils and is very penetrative - gets right down into the skin layers to help healing.
For bed sores and leg ulcers, make sure skin is not broken and combine this with eg. the aloe oil as both are extremely healing. A dash of red raspberry seed oil would also help as it helps repair the skin barrier.
TIP: Bear in mind that many comfrey oils are much lower strength so won't have the same effect, are often heated too high and are not in organic, cold pressed macerated oil.
Comes in a beautiful Italian glass bottle. External use only. Keep cool and not in direct sunlight. Patch test before use as always and avoid if you have any related allergies.
