So, what do you do with your essential oils, carriers and bases? I thought you might like to see my favourite books on this subject. I have used these to make my own products for years - and I seem to be addicted to buying pretty new ones as they come out! I don't hold stock, so simply follow the links below to Amazon or support independent bookshops by buying from Bookshop.org. Oh, this is my own book, where I detail some of the things I make - a freebie to help get you started :).
The Complete Guide to Aromatherapy, Salvatore Battaglia is an old, more technical book, but I refer to it constantly. This is an encyclopaedia really, not a pretty-makey book, but so useful if you're serious about learning more about using aromatherapy. Has monographs on over 80 essential oils and fabulous sections split into different health categories such as circulation, musculoskeletal, nervous system etc. It's probably available second hand now. There is also a more up to date version here, with 112 monographs. Oh no, I shall have to get that one too now!
Mud, Salt & Medicine, Julia Lawless - Love this book - tons of recipes from someone who knows her stuff. You can get Julia's own range of essential oils via ND here, if you like but, interestingly, I don't find them as good as the NHR and MA ones I've listed here on the shop for you. ( If doing this, please use Micki Rose as practitioner when registering to trigger a commission for me, thank you x).
The Handmade Apothecary, Vicky Chown & Kim Walker - a beautiful book, such a pleasure to look at and read. Again, tons of recipes and split into body systems and focusing on herbal medicine mixes using essential oils. Lovely.
Aromatherapy for Health Professionals, Shirley and Len Price - another oldie but a goodie if you need a technical book. I trained with Shirley in the 90s!
There are tons more I could recommend, but those are a good selection. Ask me if you need others.
