Here, you can book an at home/work mobile phlebotomy appointment to make getting your blood samples a bit easier! Inuvi has a network across the UK and I have arranged a service through them. Don't worry that they might not have a nurse near you; I'm advised they will travel for no extra charge. Note they do not centrifuge yet, sorry, see below for advice if you need that. And they do over 16s only.

Ordering Process:

You book the service here, I order on your behalf, a nurse will contact you to arrange your appointment.

Make sure you have your test kit ready well beforehand - don't book before you have it - and have read the test instructions, especially anything you need to avoid, fasting requirements, stopping of supplements etc, the phlebotomy requirements and return of samples fully.

Make sure your kit includes a needle and syringe - Genova often don't include one now because most services like to use their own, but have one just in case - request it from Genova if you need one; they are happy to send one if needed.

When booking your appointment, talk to the nurse about what you need done and give them the phlebotomy instructions when they arrive. Be specific so you don't have them turn up and they've not got something with them, or whatever.

After the samples have been taken, you can then package the samples up and post according to the instructions in your test kit.

Samples arrive at the lab, and I will email results to you as usual when they are in.

Test Prep

Review preparation instructions included with your test and follow any fasting or medication requirements. In general:

• Please continue to drink water, fasting does NOT mean no water
• No supplements unless otherwise requested by the practitioner or your medical professional for 24 to 48 hours beforehand
• Medications should not be stopped unless health care provider instructions say otherwise

Centrifuging and Freezing

Some profiles have specific requirements for centrifuging and freezing. Confirm this is possible before your appointment. Note: Pulse cannot do centrifuging. Note that Regenerus can sometimes centrifuge your Cyrex samples if you ask and arrange it with them beforehand - DO NOT just send them off and hope for the best!

Returning Specimens

Most labs cannot accept delivery of samples on Saturdays or Sundays so only send them to arrive Tues, Weds or Thursday to be safe. Make sure you know how you will store, package and post your samples after your blood appointment. Check your test kit instructions and have arranged a suitable delivery service such as next day courier beforehand.
